Distractions From Our Call

One day, a week or so ago, I went for a walk down my dirt road. I was tired but I knew I was needing time with God. Everything seemed to be going wrong. I felt like my character had been attacked in a situation. I was checking my social media constantly because filth and hateful comments were being written on my posts. Things in our home keep falling apart and I had more than enough of my kids fighting and bickering with each other.

While I walked and prayed I said “God what is happening?” “Are you hearing me because I don’t feel like I’m hearing you!” I desperately wanted to hear his voice. Like I wanted to hear the booming voice of God! I quickly followed that up by telling Him I would more than likely be terrified if He boomed at me.

He didn’t boom but my spirit has clearly been hearing His voice ever since. God showed me distractions and how I was trying to fight my battles on my own. When I know that the word says that He will fight for us (Exodus 14:14). He showed me how EVERY SINGLE DAY my schedule is filled. I have not been resting in Him (psalm 4:8).

I’ve been trying to make some space for rest, to be quiet, to be still, which led me to asking God “what is it you want me to be doing” and what I heard was “Write.”

Friends, distractions can be a great enemy to

living in our call. Don’t forget to carve out time in your day to just be still and listen.

“Moses spoke to the people: “Don’t be afraid. Stand firm and watch GOD do his work of salvation for you today. Take a good look at the Egyptians today for you’re never going to see them again. GOD will fight the battle for you. And you? You keep your mouths shut!””

Exodus 14:13-14 MSG

At day’s end I’m ready for sound sleep, For you, GOD, have put my life back together.”

Psalm 4:8 MSG
